Recent economic news has consumers rethinking their automotive ownership strategies.

For years, our customers have relied on us to inform them when it was no longer economically rational to invest more dollars in an older car.

The factors have changed. First, cars last longer today than at any time in history. Consumer should and, no doubt, will demand many more miles and years out of their vehicle purchase.

Secondly, credit has tightened and budgets are being stretched. Consumers are delaying or eliminating plans to buy or lease a new car. Keeping the old car running has become the logical solution for many families.

Virtually all motorists are averse to any kind of a breakdown. As a vehicle ages and accrues more miles, the odds of a breakdown occurring rises. Many motorists have purchased or leased a new car in an effort to minimize the liklihood of an unexpected and untimely failure.

Once your odometer reaches 90,000 miles, I would like to suggest that you consider replacing certain components on your vehicle that could leave you stranded. Not every part on your car will leave you stranded. I am only referring to those parts that typically fail around 100,000 miles and play a major role in keeping your vehicle moving.

Each vehicle has its own indiosyncratic tendencies and we would be happy to discuss these with you on a case by case basis.

The parts we have identified that can cause the vehicle to fail are:

Fuel Pump
Fuel Pump Relay
Alternator
Water Pump
Radiator
Belts/Hoses
Timing Belt/Tensioners and pulleys
Thermostat
Battery

In an effort to reduce or even eliminate the possibility of an unplanned breakdown, I encourage you to consider replacing these components proactively. No need to do replace all of these parts at once. Just remember,if you wait for them to fail, they will fail you and leave you without the use of your wheels.

But, if we replace these parts before they fail we can schedule the repairs at your convenience and save you up to 10% of the cost of the repairs.

It's still cheaper than a car payment!
